Making the Sun

from the UK magazine How it Works

Scientists hypothesize that the Sun begas as a giant gas dust cloud rotating in spacing.  Over milions of years, as this cloud spun faster and faster, it collapsed into a disc.  Some of the material around the disc formed the planets as smal clumps of material stuck together, much like today’s asteroids, but most of the gas and dust was just pulled into a large mass into the middle, a body that become the Sun.  At its centre the temperature and pressure became so enormous that a thermonuclear reason started, smashing atoms together to release energy and starting the fusion chain reaction that makes the Sun “burn.”
