Musician, Soapy Actor Richard Hatch

Our featured shot of actor Richard Lawrence Hatch  born on May 21,. 1945 in Santa Monica California. He has one brother, John.  Nothing else is known about his family.  He was the original Philip Brown c. 1970 when the pic was taken, for the now defunct soap All my Children.

After that debut, Richard made guest appearances on The RookiesHawaii Five-0, and The Waltons. In 1976 he replaced actor Michael Douglas on the series, The Streets of San Francisco, playing Inspector Dan Robbins until the series end in 1977 (the fans missed Douglas).

His next role was as Captain Apollo on the series Battlestar Galactica, a Star Wars TV spinoff  which lasted for one season because of its high costs  (it can now be seen on Netflix).  He returned  when the new Battlestar Galactica series started in 2004, playing Tom Zarek. Richard stayed with it until its demise in 2009 appearing in 22 out of 36 episodes. The UK Guardian gives him a good obit.

Richard is a bowl Temperament Type which agrees with his statement that he wanted to be either a pole vaulter for the Olympics or a pianist because he was so “shy”.  His musical talent is shown with Neptune conjunct  the  Moon  in the Fifth House that also part of his Midheaven-Nadir Yod.  That conjunction also took on prominence when President Kennedy was assassinated, as it so moved him that he found a latent voice and changed college majors to Drama shortly thereafter.

He does not have a rim opposition for his bowl, but instead a strong Line of Efficiency: Venus and Mars are conjunct in the Eleventh House of dreams, fans and friends that support that spur of the moment change in his life,  as he switched one talent for another.

The Hands and Feet of Yod

The two arrows above show the sextile aspect between the Moon and Juno of the Yod.  Those planets are the hands of the Yod.  The midpoint of  29.24 Virgo and 28.07 Cancer is 29.08, a degree that is firmly in the Fourth House.  That symbol conjunct the Fixed Star Regulus according to Signore Carelli is the servus servorumor the servant’s servant.: someone who receives a higher calling and adapts his mundane life accordingly.

Marc Jones being far more prosaic in his Sabian Symbols, says 30 Leo is the symbol of an “Unsealed Letter”  depicting man’s “purity of spirit” and his “repudiation of compromise”  as he responds to the “creative needs of life.”

Directly opposite is 30 Aquarius which according to Astrologer Joan Kellogg is the Axis of Awareness  that anchors the person.  Leo 30 then is the Yod’s head that activates the Aquarius 30  {Carelli writes that this a symbol of  good fortune while Marc Jones  says that it is a degree of spiritual illumination} Foot into action.

For Hatch, the Kennedy assassination did just that as he came out of the confines of his natural shyness and found a better balance between his character and sudden need to create a public image.  He did this not only by acting but by his many books on spiritual and self fulfillment and his one on one coaching sessions.

Theodor Landscheidt, the Eclipse and Harvey

While Veep Albert Gore is ballyhooing Global Warming, meteorologist cum astrologer Theodor Landscheidt, believed that after 2000 the world would be cooling based on his research.  Fellow astrologer Michael Erlewine was so convinced of Herr Lanscheidt’s argument that he dedicated his book on “Sun Storms, Solar Flares” to him.  meyerland2.png

One of the many physicists that agree with Landscheidt is the 1973 Nobel Prize co-winner in physics,  Norwegian Physicist Dr. Ivar Giaever, & he makes a good scientific argument for it here.

                                      The Rationale & CMEs

Erlewine’s book at seventy-two pages is an easy read, so I am not going to recount it here, but he mentions some  rather fascinating that he uses to support his work.  He notes¹ that a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) had a M5.6 solar flare on July 2, 2012 at 7:52 am EDT and he believes that CME’s and Eclipses have a profound cooling effect on the environment.

A CME is when huge bubbles of gas are woven with magnetic field lines ejected from the Sun over the course of several hours. While the Sun’s corona has been observed during total eclipses of the Sun for thousands of years, the existence of coronal mass ejections were discovered only as recently at the 1970’s.

During a natural eclipse of the Sun the corona is only visible for a few minutes at most, so  only the innermost corona is visible above the brightness of the sky  — this is also what those of us viewing the eclipse saw with our sunglasses or in my glass homemade cereal box² — but from space the corona is visible for large distances and can be viewed continuously.  Those CME’s spew out tons of protons and electrons into the atmosphere during an eclipse and this  past Monday, August 21st, Americans got a treat in seeing an eclipse that cut diagonally through the country.

The best place according to NASA to view the eclipse was Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and  the distance from Hopkinston to Houston by car, not as the crow or wind flies, is 830-odd miles.  According to mundane astrology though, it is the path of the umbra that is important which could be far larger and the people living there are most strongly influenced by that eclipse. The University of Houston states that its residents received 67% of the eclipse & that the eclipse began  there  at approximately 11:45 a.m. and lasted until approximately 2:45 p.m., with peak viewing time at approximately 1:16 p.m. (See below or that chart)

Eclipses  are defined as a total or partial blocking of light, or an occultation, of one heavenly body by another.  Astrology concerns itself with eclipses that involve, the Sun, the Moon and the Earth or the solar and lunar eclipse.  August 21st’s eclipse was a solar one as it occurred  when there was a conjunction between the Sun and the Moon after the New Moon.

houston eclipse.png
the eclipse at Houston.  The Saros point is 5 Cancer and in the Eighth House, sextile Mercury in the Tenth and trine Neptune in the Fourth that in turn are opposite each other.

This one was spectacular because it was close to the Earth, near its perigee and a total band of Earth was dimmed by the Moon’s shadow cone so that the Sun’s corona that is invisible to the eye was now visible.  That corona is what throws off CME’s.

Where does the saros cycle fit in?

The saros cycle was first noted by the ancient Mesopotamians. It is 6,585 days or 18 years, and about 11 days, when the Earth, Moon, and Sun line up in relatively the same position. According to Prof. Francesca Rochberg, what the Ancient Chaldean priests, did with that information is unknown, but we have lots of tablets recording weather patterns as their astrologers, or as Michael Erlewine calls them “cultural astronomers” were looking for relevance.

The ancient Mesopotamians also  understood the difference between the Morning Star and Evening Star Venus but it was when Venus and Mercury were both retrograde, a period just under a week, all decision-making stopped.

The Saros cycle is important because it is the longest running recorded planetary phenomena, and eclipses are measured by the  cycle they fall within, with the first eclipse in the cycle setting the tone for all the others. Currently, we are in Saros cycle #117. It started on June 24, 1971, at the degree of 05.50 Cancer, the symbol of “an automobile wrecked by a train. ”  Marc Jones writes that 06 Cancer shows a genius for reorganization but also needs to be wary of insensitive recklessness, which makes all solar eclipses since then until the next cycle starts in 2054 carry that mark — the periods do not run consecutively, but overlap.  The next significant Saros alignment is supposed to be around the year 2200; some of us today will be there to witness that; I will not be among you.

Another thing about eclipses is noticing which equinox the eclipse falls near. Ours fall near the autumnal one, September 21st, so this suggests, according to Ptolemy, that the fall harvest will be impacted.

From Saros to CME and back again

Eclipses have a profound impact on living creatures and weather patterns. This disruption, makes many animals react to the drop in temperature by going to bed earlier than normal. I noticed that my birds did grow quieter and went back to the coop while many of my flowering herbs closed up for the night as well.

Human beings do not follow that pattern; instead, they get rather excited & flustered, with some people lapsing into fits insanity or do extraordinary things (lunacy). The reason for the difference is an interesting foray into zoology and way beyond my scope,  but astrophysicists know that the CME effect is known for affecting weather patterns, but astrophysicists, cannot predict how.

                  The Bungula  Effect

This eclipse found the sun & the moon at 29 Leo conjunct to the Fixed Triple Star of Regulus. Regulus is a blue and white star; Texas’s state flag is like the US national flag and red white and blue, so nothing there, but Regulus has very Jupiterian nature and often photographs orangey red. It is a rather captivating image the blue and white of Texas being pounced upon by red exuberance of Jupiter. Well, it works for me.

These three planets found in the Ninth House at the time of the eclipse, suggest that the eclipse itself would be very abundant and long traveling. They were also square to 24 Scorpio, the eclipses watery Ascendant, and the Fixed Star Bungula and that was going to prove rather important for Houston.

Bungula is a double star system, white and yellow and it is the brightest star in the constellation of Alpha Centauri. It is said to bestow a Venusian and Jupiterian effect giving the time a feeling of friendship and refinement. Bungula, great name isn’t it?, is also the closest star to the Earth other than the sun at 4.2 light years away.

That worked for the Eclipse. People traveled, parties and weddings occurred, and everyone had a summer holiday. Bungula made the Eclipse fun and the horoscope for the week before showed everyone gearing up for the big day.

                        Houston, we got a problem

Houston is the fourth largest city in the US.  It is also a major refining & financial center, so every meteorologist worth his salt was trying to figure out when and where Harvey would hit. Originally they forecast at night further down the coast at Corpus Christi, but   as the Moon was via combusta and in horary astrology,  ithas long been said that that no charts should be done during that time, we joked at Sabian Earth about how far off the pundits would be and felt that the Category 8 that they were calling for would be just lots and lots of rain.

Harvey hit in the morning at Houston.

And rain it did.  Harvey fell upon Houston’s second house and with gay abandon.  Jupiter flooded the lowlands ands made the city’s inhabitants see red.  As the planet was also square the transformative Pluto, the city took on the look of an aquarium.

la grange.png

It is not uncommon that a Solar Eclipse is found with Jupiter according to Sky & Telescope, but how it would affect things is another thing.

As the eclipse’s Sun & Moon at 28 degrees of Leo  was now in Houston’s First House on the ascendant &  sextile the new transiting Moon in the Second.  Jupiter is still hanging on for the ride next to the Sagittarian Moon  and so Harvey travelled up the coast hidden by the via Combusta Moon & the rain came down not in the charts temperament type of a splash, but in buckets,  as watery Neptune hung out in the Seventh House of Public Harmony and Business Relationships,  and after weeks of angst, we all came together from neighboring states,  prayer and sent goods down to Houston.

All our best to those affected.  God Bless and keep you from harm.

  2. An important additional step to the cereal box eclipse viewer is covering it with either brown paper bagging or gift wrap otherwise the box is not dark enough to truly see the little speck move.  It is also good to have a place to lean again as eclipses are long and changes are you will grow tired.

#545 The tale of Henri Landru, a modern day Bluebeard

The Fairy Tale:

“Bluebeard” (French: Barbe Bleue) is a French folktale, it’s origin is unknown. The most famous version of Bluebeard was written by Charles Perrault and first published by Barbin Press of n 1697 in “Histoires ou contes du temps passé.” You can read the 1895 version  here on Gutenberg. The French fairy tales preced the German Grimm Brothers stories by several centuries.

The story tells of a wealthy and ugly man who sets up bizarre conditions for his wives around one particular room in his chateau (castle). He tells her that she can open any door in the house with them, which each contain his riches, except for an underground chamber that he strictly forbids her to enter lest she suffers his wrath.

He then goes away and leaves the house and the keys in her hands. She invites her sister, Anne, and her friends and cousins over for a party. However, she is eventually overcome with the desire to see what the forbidden room holds; and she sneaks away from the party and ventures into the room.

She immediately discovers the room is filled with blood and the murdered corpses of Bluebeard’s former wives hung on hooks from the walls. Horrified, she drops the key into a pool of blood, picks it up squeamishly and flees. Back in her rooms, she tries to wash the blood from the key, but the key is magical and the blood cannot be removed. Her husband will know that she knows his secret and end up like the rest but forewarned is forearmed and she plans her defense…

                                     Bluebeard and the Black Widow

Whenever there is a man who has a long list of wives that all died suddenly and he inherits it all, he is called a Bluebeard. If it is a woman, she is called The Black Widow, because female spiders kill and then eats her mate during sex the majority of the time.

Landru’s two chateaux are about 5 1/2 hours away by horse and carriage.  Paris is at the lower right in Royal Purple.

                            ENTRE LANDRU

Henri Landru got this epithet of Bluebeard because he had ten fiancees that all mysteriously disappeared. Three were later found After sifting all of the cinders and the rubbish at his villas at Gamboise and Vernouillet, that are near each other (see the map above).  Examining the bones  doctors were able to piece together fragments and teeth which show that at least three human bodies burned wherein,  were these women.

Unlike the original Bluebeard, Landru chose his victims by several criteria. First, they would not be easily missed. And two, and this was the key point, they had very large insurance policies, that in his charm and savoir-faire he got to sign over to him or one of his accomplices; they then split the money. Once that feat was accomplished, Monsieur Landru invited them one day to luncheon at one of his villas and gave them a dish of morels from his garden, followed by a lovely cocktail carefully mixed with a culture of typhoid germs. In four cases, he succeeded in drawing for himself or his accomplice’s exceedingly large sums of francs. The insurance company got suspicious.

In 1912, Monsieur Landru’ s friend, Duroux insured himself for 20,000 francs in Landru’ s favor.  This was far too tantalizing for Landru and shortly thereafter Landru invited his best friend Duroux to a mushroom dinner and knockout cocktail. Amazingly Duroux was impervious to the drink and lived!  Unrebuffed, Landru invited him back for another repast – this one did the trick, but the attending physician was now suspicious. He could not figure out the culprit, though he knew he was poisoned and was forced to let the issue go. Years later, the doctor testified against Landru.

Vincent de Moro Giafferi
Obit of Landru’s attorney from Nov 1956,  mentioning the famous case.

Nine years later they apprehended Landru they found his journal full of Invited X for morels, and a whole library filled with the studies of mushrooms, the published manuscripts of Louis Pasteur & medical books. Oh, and yes, tubes of typhoid bacilli.

Bluebeard Landru’s Maplandru map

Monsieur Landru is a bucket with a Saturn handle that just coincidentally falls in the eighth house of death and legacies, at 16+ in Sagittarius with the symbol of “seagulls watching a ship,” implying his ability to exploit another’s largesse. See the chart above that shows this layout.

Saturn’s own house happens to be the tenth where his midheaven falls at 15.50 Capricorn suggesting “boys and girls in gym suits” depicting Landru’s ability to unite many disparate people into his cause. That midheaven is sextile to a massive fire stellium in the twelfth house which is intercepted.

landrus midpoints
Both yod’s have midpoints at Asteroid points.  The red is at Zeus suggesting Landru’s ability to research thoroughly for his work; and the one in blue at Apollon, this time telling us that his need to perfect and test his craft was insatiable:  hence his murder of his friend Doroux.

Intercepted signs are found between the cups of two house but most importantly, not on either of them. On Landru’s chart, Pisces is the sign of the twelfth house and Taurus is the sign of the first, but Aries is not shown on the cusps at all. On the chart shown, instead Aries is shown on the lines going from Pisces to Taurus, implying that it is intercepted.

Planets in intercepted signs have more importance than usual upon the affairs of the house in which they are found, so this stellium trine his Saturn handle, conjunct his ascendant, square his Uranus in Cancer and inconjunct his Mars in Leo, literally influences every aspect of Landru’s map. But interceptions make the sign hidden, so their influence while pervasive, is subtle, and it’s that elusive quality that causes so much trouble because it wants to get out of the shadows and shine.

1Bluebeard-.pngFor Landru, this is particularly rough, as within the insidious Arian group lies a Sun and Moon conjunction that is imprisoned, so his Line of Vitality is strangled. The group though searches for a way to manifest itself and show its creativity (trine Mars 16.02 Leo fifth house) and it is only through the Line of Personality in a trine aspect between the enthusiastic idealism of Jupiter & the cruel tenaciousness of Saturn in the eighth that it strikes out.

His Line of Efficiency is another venue to the outer chart. This time with hidden Venus to the manifestation of a creative and forced force inconjunct the Midheaven. Mars thus, has really nothing in the chart to inhibit or mollify it, and so its square to the Saturn handle has incredible power, and here in Leo, unleashes it animalistic impulses freely.

                                              In the end

Monsieur Landru was tried and found guilty of his crimes. He did have one lady friend who stood in his defense and said he was the nicest and kindest of men, but alas she was poor, and so ignored. He was guillotined on 25 February 1922.C’est la Vie
