#56 Alice Bailey: the New Age awaits

Alice Ann Bailey, often called AAB, was a woman ahead of her time. Born June 16, 1880 as Alice LaTrobe-Bateman in Manchester, England at what we have reckoned to be 9:50 pm. She first married fellow Christian evangelist British Walter Evans but this union ended in divorce as Bailey’s occult philosophy developed. Later, after relocating to New York, she married American Foster Bailey and had 3 children. Prescient, she coined the world “New Age” and her book on the “Law of Attraction” had Charles W Leadbeater, founder of the Catholic Liberal Church wild in agreement. James Allen’s New Thought classic, As a Man Thinketh, owes much to this latter work.

Bailey wrote over 30 books, and founded the Lucis Trust in NYC in 1921 to promote her ideology. She added the Arcane School in 1923, World Goodwill in 1932 and Triangles in 1937. The latter groups purpose was to bring people together in groups of three to meditate daily. The purpose was that by creating a triangle, their meditation would emanate outward and raise the general level of spiritual awareness. One of her prediction was that a new messiah, the Master Maitreya, whom she wrote was the teacher and ultimate godhead of Jesus Christ, would appear in the last quarter of the 20th century. No one is sure though if that meant that the Master was born or known.

Bailey full of abundance

AAB is rectified to 16 Capricorn “boys and girls in gymnasium suits.” This shows how her life was a never ending adjustment of ideals and motives so she may tap into the potentials of human experience. The symbol’s keyword is “Animation” and near asteroid Photographica, an aspect that shows up in photographed people’s chart  than those who photograph.

Her Part of Fortune is conjunct her Moon in Libra in the 8th showing her drive towards exploring the many facets of mind-body connection. Despite being a bowl she only 1 conjunction in her chart, an aspect she shares with French feminist-author George Sand. Marc Jones wrote that this lack is a greater tilt towards personal responsibility in daily life and lessening of ties towards society. (The Essentials)

same chart with asteroids

Her Sun at 26 Gemini is directly opposite the Galactic Center at 25.11 Sagittarius highlighting her strong drive to prove not only her beliefs but herself and thereby re-creates her personality. Asteroid Urania is conjunct Saturn in the third, so it is no wonder that she wrote “Esoteric Astrology”, discussing her theory of the 7 rays that students can tap into for a fuller understanding of the universe. On the other side of Saturn in the 3rd house at 26.32 is Psyche at 10.18 who is also close to Neptune at 13.31 and from that stellium out came “Esoteric Healing” and the call for holistic medicine. As Cupido-A is near Pluto in the 4th , and conjunct via translation of light to Aesculapia at 28.55 Taurus, this search for great health could be an outgrowth of her own fear of sickness and old age.

Like General Adams asteroid Sappho (Leo 06.16), named for the Greek poetess whose poetry had a personal appeal, is near Mars (09.04 Leo) but neither it is partile nor in the 12th house. Still, the asteroid is about how we make friends because of our personal charisma, and in the 6th shows her friends with Lucis co-workers.

Mrs. Bailey died December 15, 1949 in New York City leaving her autobiography at 400 pages, unfinished.

A woman of many talents & haircolor…Gloria DeHaven

The clip is from the Johnny Carson Show with Miss DeHaven,  Gene Hackman,  George Carlin  McLean Stevenson of MASH

Her parents were vaudevillians and she her younger brother Carter grew up on the circuit.  Gloria Mildred Dehaven was born on July 23, 1925 in Los Angeles and we are rectifying her to 12 Scorpio giving her a strong forceful personality  that was emphatic in her convictions.    Miss DeHaven attributed her youthful looks to an organic diet of vegetables and her complete faith in prayer.  She died July 30 2016 in her hometown of  L.A.

Hhe strong preponderance of planets in theatrical Leo is striking in Miss DeHaven’s chart — she has six of them spanning from the metaphysical ninth house straight careening right in the tenth.  Her Pluto in Cancer shows she will have children though they may be disconnected paternally, as the eighth house is ruled by Mars, and she will be strongly attached to them.

DeHaven is a strong extravert and is Bucket with an Uranian handle in the creative fifth house.  That handle explains her hair color of the film, something the UK Telegraph enjoyed noting from brunette, to raven haired, blonde to redheaded through the various decades.  Uranus at 26 Pisces is reinforced by its Lord sextile to the second house, suggesting that her long and versatile career gave her both security and a healthy bank account.

Her Moon is intercepted on the eleventh house cusp, opposite Uranus, and this is a polarizing factor in her chart withhe Moon shedding light on her active public half and its back to the private.  While true,  she was lucky in her career and her work, but not in her three marriages as none lasted, she did avoid scandal because her Cosmic Cross  with the Moon as a beacon kept her eye on the prize:  that scandal could destory her career and with it her source of independence and support for herself and children.

Miss DeHaven may have not been a major Hollywood Star, but she did do something that many bemoan that they would love to do:  continue working as long as possible and it was her shrewd management skills that made that possible — she retired at 75.

Hygeia

In Greek Mythology, Hygeia is the great-granddaughter of Zeus / Jupiter via the Apollo(n) line.  Her father Aesclepius,  another asteroid, was the Greek god of healing & is often shown with a physician’s staff & a  snake wrapped around. The cock bird was also sacred to Asclepius and sacrificed on his altar.  Chiron, the centaur, was his mentor.
Aesclepius had five daughters.  The two most famous are Panacea (cure all) and Hygeia, the root of the English word Hygiene or public health. Hygienists at one time in American history called Hygeists.
Hippocrates, the great doctor of antiquity and father of the Hippocratic oath that doctors take, was said to be a mortal descendant of Asclepius.  His promise calls upon the Greek gods as his witness, doctors still take some form of this oath today, sometimes without the ancient gods.  It begins solemnly:

I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panaceia and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfil according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant. …

 Using Hygeia

In the few cases we used Hygeia, we discovered that it works well as a public hygiene point.  Here are a few examples from our notes:

  • One native who had Hygeia in the Third House admitted that she came from a very neat family where ironing, clean windows, and presentable appearance counted.  it was also sextile her Sixth House of work and labor, and she admitted that her work appearance was impeccable.  Once out of the limelight though she dressed quite differently and when her co-workers met her were stunned by her disheveled hippie appearance.
  • Another fellow has Hygeia in his Twelfth House, admitted he was a “closet slob.” He only cleaned up when he knew he was going to have company or meet someone personally important and then shoved everything in closets.
  • President Trump who has Hygeia in the Eighth House is an admitted “germophobe.”

As a mundane event,  Hygeia this week is at 15.30 Capricorn in the Second House, and health matters and budgets are underway.  This may appear in one’s personal life as concerns over health costs, coverage or bills.  Perhaps a doctor’s visit becomes suddenly due or there is concern over whether the family can meet this new and unexpected expense or more imporantly, whether insurance will cover the procedure and if so, how much.

#545 The tale of Henri Landru, a modern day Bluebeard

2Bluebeard-

The Fairy Tale:

“Bluebeard” (French: Barbe Bleue) is a French folktale, it’s origin is unknown. The most famous version of Bluebeard was written by Charles Perrault and first published by Barbin Press of n 1697 in “Histoires ou contes du temps passé.” You can read the 1895 version  here on Gutenberg. The French fairy tales preced the German Grimm Brothers stories by several centuries.

The story tells of a wealthy and ugly man who sets up bizarre conditions for his wives around one particular room in his chateau (castle). He tells her that she can open any door in the house with them, which each contain his riches, except for an underground chamber that he strictly forbids her to enter lest she suffers his wrath.

He then goes away and leaves the house and the keys in her hands. She invites her sister, Anne, and her friends and cousins over for a party. However, she is eventually overcome with the desire to see what the forbidden room holds; and she sneaks away from the party and ventures into the room.

She immediately discovers the room is filled with blood and the murdered corpses of Bluebeard’s former wives hung on hooks from the walls. Horrified, she drops the key into a pool of blood, picks it up squeamishly and flees. Back in her rooms, she tries to wash the blood from the key, but the key is magical and the blood cannot be removed. Her husband will know that she knows his secret and end up like the rest but forewarned is forearmed and she plans her defense…

                                     Bluebeard and the Black Widow

Whenever there is a man who has a long list of wives that all died suddenly and he inherits it all, he is called a Bluebeard. If it is a woman, she is called The Black Widow, because female spiders kill and then eats her mate during sex the majority of the time.

Landru’s two chateaux are about 5 1/2 hours away by horse and carriage.  Paris is at the lower right in Royal Purple.

                            ENTRE LANDRU

1Bluebeard-

Henri Landru got this epithet of Bluebeard because he had ten fiancees that all mysteriously disappeared. Three were later found After sifting all of the cinders and the rubbish at his villas at Gamboise and Vernouillet, that are near each other (see the map above).  Examining the bones  doctors were able to piece together fragments and teeth which show that at least three human bodies burned wherein,  were these women.

Unlike the original Bluebeard, Landru chose his victims by several criteria. First, they would not be easily missed. And two, and this was the key point, they had very large insurance policies, that in his charm and savoir-faire he got to sign over to him or one of his accomplices; they then split the money. Once that feat was accomplished, Monsieur Landru invited them one day to luncheon at one of his villas and gave them a dish of morels from his garden, followed by a lovely cocktail carefully mixed with a culture of typhoid germs. In four cases, he succeeded in drawing for himself or his accomplice’s exceedingly large sums of francs. The insurance company got suspicious.

In 1912, Monsieur Landru’ s friend, Duroux insured himself for 20,000 francs in Landru’ s favor.  This was far too tantalizing for Landru and shortly thereafter Landru invited his best friend Duroux to a mushroom dinner and knockout cocktail. Amazingly Duroux was impervious to the drink and lived!  Unrebuffed, Landru invited him back for another repast – this one did the trick, but the attending physician was now suspicious. He could not figure out the culprit, though he knew he was poisoned and was forced to let the issue go. Years later, the doctor testified against Landru.

Vincent de Moro Giafferi
Obit of Landru’s attorney from Nov 1956,  mentioning the famous case.

Nine years later they apprehended Landru they found his journal full of Invited X for morels, and a whole library filled with the studies of mushrooms, the published manuscripts of Louis Pasteur & medical books. Oh, and yes, tubes of typhoid bacilli.

Bluebeard Landru’s Maplandru map

Monsieur Landru is a bucket with a Saturn handle that just coincidentally falls in the eighth house of death and legacies, at 16+ in Sagittarius with the symbol of “seagulls watching a ship,” implying his ability to exploit another’s largesse. See the chart above that shows this layout.

Saturn’s own house happens to be the tenth where his midheaven falls at 15.50 Capricorn suggesting “boys and girls in gym suits” depicting Landru’s ability to unite many disparate people into his cause. That midheaven is sextile to a massive fire stellium in the twelfth house which is intercepted.

landrus midpoints
Both yod’s have midpoints at Asteroid points.  The red is at Zeus suggesting Landru’s ability to research thoroughly for his work; and the one in blue at Apollon, this time telling us that his need to perfect and test his craft was insatiable:  hence his murder of his friend Doroux.

Intercepted signs are found between the cups of two house but most importantly, not on either of them. On Landru’s chart, Pisces is the sign of the twelfth house and Taurus is the sign of the first, but Aries is not shown on the cusps at all. On the chart shown, instead Aries is shown on the lines going from Pisces to Taurus, implying that it is intercepted.

Planets in intercepted signs have more importance than usual upon the affairs of the house in which they are found, so this stellium trine his Saturn handle, conjunct his ascendant, square his Uranus in Cancer and inconjunct his Mars in Leo, literally influences every aspect of Landru’s map. But interceptions make the sign hidden, so their influence while pervasive, is subtle, and it’s that elusive quality that causes so much trouble because it wants to get out of the shadows and shine.

1Bluebeard-.pngFor Landru, this is particularly rough, as within the insidious Arian group lies a Sun and Moon conjunction that is imprisoned, so his Line of Vitality is strangled. The group though searches for a way to manifest itself and show its creativity (trine Mars 16.02 Leo fifth house) and it is only through the Line of Personality in a trine aspect between the enthusiastic idealism of Jupiter & the cruel tenaciousness of Saturn in the eighth that it strikes out.

His Line of Efficiency is another venue to the outer chart. This time with hidden Venus to the manifestation of a creative and forced force inconjunct the Midheaven. Mars thus, has really nothing in the chart to inhibit or mollify it, and so its square to the Saturn handle has incredible power, and here in Leo, unleashes it animalistic impulses freely.

                                              In the end

Monsieur Landru was tried and found guilty of his crimes. He did have one lady friend who stood in his defense and said he was the nicest and kindest of men, but alas she was poor, and so ignored. He was guillotined on 25 February 1922.C’est la Vie
