Aussergewöhnlich Kurt Gödel *

A long time ago I read Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Douglas Hofstadter and since then became a fan of this sensitive and gifted mathematician. I highly recommend the book and since we are closing down, I figured I get a few of my favorites in before then.

Welcome to Princeton University.

Kurt Friedrich Gödel (in English the umlaut becomes oe) was born April 28, 1906 in Brno Czech Republic to a Rudolf August Godel a businessman and Roman Catholic and a Protestant mother Marianne a well-educated woman but both ethnic Germans. Raised Protestant he was himself was a theistic Christian — belief in a personal Jesus without the sectarian divisions. His childhood was marred by one great event when he was around 4 and contracted rheumatic fever leaving his heart muscle permanently damaged. Older pictures of Herr Doktor Goedel (pronounced Ger-duhl) show a shrunken man with large looming eyes probably because of his heavy lenses.

Dr Gomperz, an Austrian philosopher and student of S. Freud.

A excellent student throughout primary school and later the Gymnasium, Goedel excelling especially in mathematics, languages and religion. Upon his graduation from the Gymnasium in Brno he enrolled in the University of Vienna, attending lectures on physics, his initial field of interest, philosophy by Heinrich Gomperz, and mathematics. by Hans Hahn.

The move to Maths

It was the later teacher that encouraged the change from physics to mathematics. His dissertation was the completeness theorem for first order logic (Gödel 1929) and joined the Vienna First Circle headed by Moritz Schlick ( a student of the Swiss physicist Max Planck — Godel was incredibly well connected). The group was known as “logical positivists,” after Herbert Feigl (then at University of Chicago) and Albert Blumberg 1931 paper “Logical positivism: A new movement in European philosophy”. Though Gödel was not a logical positivist, he found their companionship and discussions formative (Mercury in the 4th house).

The Tans-Siberian Railway circles Lake Baikal, Russia in the summertime.

Things turned sour when Hitler came to town. First his adviser Hans Hahn was killed for being a Jew and then Moritz Schlick was assassinated by an ex-student, same reason. Gödel was shattered that mathematicians could be considered an enemy of the state and had a nervous breakdown. While he received the  “Dozentur neuer Ordnung,” (professor for the New Order) granted to candidates after they had been blood test for racial purity, and then tested in their field of study, he found the environment intolerable and was horrified that he had been classified as an “Aryan.”

Depressed that the Nazis were destroying what many considered a “second Athens” the intellectual capital of Europe — Vienna, —  he worried too that leaving his intellectual homeland he would spend his life in barren wasteland devoid of liked minded scholars. It was that  they were Germans, his own people, that plagued him and  beyond even his ken of how this could have happened.

His wife Adele, a Russian ballerina, who had gotten him out of prison proving he was neither a homosexual nor a Jew, got them out of Vienna into the relative safety of Russia. It was a long (6380 miles) and arduous route via the Trans Siberian Railroad. Nonetheless, from Vladivostok, they picked up the Shanghai train and then a boat to San Francisco, nearly 10,000 miles from their Viennese start.

Welcome to America

Einstein who knew they were coming from messages from Freud in Vienna who himself was also in flight having paid a ransom to the Nazis for safe passage to London, telegraphed the pair he had secured Godel a post at the University; Godel believed it a hoax. Nonetheless, Kurt and Adele took buses and trains across America before ending up at a forlorn train station at Princeton Junction. There much to Gödel ‘s surprise they were met by their benefactor; stunned at seeing Einstein he colllapsed in his arms and mumbled, Danke Gott — they were safe.

Godel and Einstein at Princeton. Gödel is shown opening his letter of American citizenship. Einstein helped maneuver that too, coaching him for the interview, interrupting when he thought he could be misinterpreted or talked too much for Gödel tended to portray his personal history in the worst personal light — he never got over his guilt of first being an “Aryan” and second surviving the ordeal.

(The intercepted Vertex in Cancer in the 7th house a person’s relationship with others). With his first house intercepted as well, he suffered from a lack of confidence and self-compassion. Luckily for him, his sixth house gives him plenty of support and loyal friends who knew otherwise.
Godel has a preponderance in Cancer in the 7th but alas it is intercepted so instead we turn towards the 6th House and Gemini the sign of logic. His Midheaven is at 29 Virgo 7 [HS] the sheer honesty and straightforwardness is like Cattle Grazing upon the Prairie. It keyword is Reliability and his goal in life is be dependable and consistent with people and ideas. Godel has one opposition from Uranus in the 1st house to the Moon (probably his Mother) in the 7th. The T-square at Mercury in Aries is highlights his lifelong correspondence to her and his fellow academicians.

Roger Ailes Media

Roger Ailes was born on May 15, 1940 at 11:21 am in Warren, Ohio. He was a hemophiliac (look at the septiles below) and is best known for his Emmy-awarded TV production before moving into the political consulting. He is credited with the orchestra pit theory of news-making .

If you have two guys on a stage and one guy says, “I have a solution to the Middle East problem,” and the other guy falls into the orchestra pit, who do you think is going to be on the evening news?

Roger died on May 18 2017 in Palm Beach Florida from a heart attack aggravated by his hemophilia. His wife Elizabeth and son Zachary survive him.

#28 Prince Alfred, son of Victoria and Albert of England

Prince Alfred was born in Windsor Castle on August 6, 1844 at 7:50 am. His biographical data is here; a pleasant but unimpressive man. His son is #29, Prince Alfred of Edinburgh (Alfred Alexander William Ernest Albert) and his daughter Princess Marie Alexandra Victoria, born on 29 October 1875, is #646 as Queen of Roumania.

His chart shows a preponderance of sextiles and an absence of planets in common signs, exemplifying a savoir faire that others found pleasing, but it was his determination by retrogradation in the southern hemisphere that helped attract socially better mates for his children.

#902 American reformer, Katherine Tingley

Katherine Tingley née Katherine Augusta Westcott, was born on July 6 1847 in Newbury, Massachusetts to James & Susan Westcott. She was mainly educated in public schools and then in a convent school in Montreal. She is best known for as Katherine Tingley, after her third husband, Philo Tingley. Little known about her two other spouses or her family life, odd living as she did so totally in the public.

She was interested in charitable activities as well as in spiritualism, and in her mission work on the Lower East Side she often combined the two.  She joined the Theosophical Society on October 13, 1894 & met William Quan Judge, who on November 17, 1875 had helped Helena Blavatsky form the order.

The Map of Tingley

Tingley has a stellium in the 11th house in Aries, with Mars just on the 10th house cusp. She was definitely a strong minded determined woman who would let others dissuade her from her purpose. This stellium shows that she gravitated toward involvements with groups, associations & and organizations that swallow up the individual and
keep her from gaining a perspective as she a person becomes lost in the group cause. in her case, she made the group reflect her personality and values so her control was always firmly in place.

Her North Node is in Libra supports this too, her Libran energy is activated by unifying people, thus she acted like a pivot point in the groups affairs. Notable though are her two yods. The first one is from Jupiter to Mars with the apex at Sagittarius 10 — (HS) Mother of the Goddess. The second one is from Saturn in Pisces to Uranus with the apex at her North Node point 14 Libra that is, also HS, medics splinting a broken leg.

Tingley & the Theosophical Society

In 1881, HPB and Henry Steele Olcott moved the Theosophical Society’s headquarters from New York City to Alydar India. After HPB’s death on May 8 1891 in London, Judge led the American branch of the society out of the international movement creating the Theosophical Society of America. He died a year later from chagres fever and supposedly left a “secret diary” bequeathing the organization to the Tingley. She reshaped it, raised funds to establish the School for the Revival of the Lost Mysteries of Antiquity, commonly called the School of Antiquity and founded the International Brotherhood League to work for the benefit of convicts, “fallen women,” and ordinary working men promoting racial harmony. As can be seen for her chart, she had a powerhouse of planets in the 11th house of hopes & objectives for her place and vision of society.

In 1898 she reformed the organization with the American Theosophical Society merged into the Universal Brotherhood with the former group now the sole entity. More importantly Tingley was now “Leader and Official Head.”

Tingley died July 11, 1929, months before Pluto was discovered, in Sweden while on a speaking tour.

The baby Middono death

The chart is for when the baby died. I happened to catch this article on the bing news feed from the Chicago Trib. Our featured image is of the daddy; there is no mention of mummy.

Will County man has been charged in connection to what authorities say was the beating death of his 10-week-old daughter. The infant, Kora Middono, was airlifted to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago on Monday and pronounced dead there about 12:50 p.m. the same day, according to authorities.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office determined her death was a homicide by blunt force trauma and child abuse, the agency reported.

According to police in the village of Channahon, southwest of Joliet, Kora was brought to a hospital in nearby Grundy County just after 11 p.m. Sunday, when officials were told the injuries occurred when the baby’s father collapsed as a result of a heart condition and landed on the child.

On Tuesday, police announced that the girl’s father, Jonathon R. Middono, 29, has been charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a child under the age of 13.

Where is Channahon?

Channahon is a village in Grundy and Will counties. The population is about was 12,560. It was developed in 1961. It’s name means “Meeting of the Waters” in Pottawatomie as it is located at the confluence of the Des Plaines and Kankakee rivers, where they form the Illinois River.

The Pottawatomie Indians solely inhabited this area until white settlers began to settle here in 1832. In 1836, construction began on the I & M Canal and Channahon became the site for one of the locks that were needed along the waterway. The village itself was laid out by Myrvin Benjamin, and for a while it was called DuPage, after the river that cut through the area. In the 1840s, it was renamed Swifton, after the I & M Canal board president.

This area continued to thrive until the railroad replaced inland boat travel, which caused business to decline.

The current demographics are

  • 32.8% of the population is under the age of 18,
  • 7.2% from 18 to 24
  • 33.8% from 25 to 44,
  • 20.9% from 45 to 64, and
  • 5.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
  • The median age is 34 years based on the 2010 Census.
    • For every 100 females, there were 105.7 males.
    • For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.7 males.

The median income for a household in the village is a whopping $94,519

Oops I just fell on the baby and can’t get up!

Hospital staff members determined Kora’s condition “indicated significant injuries to her head consistent with blunt force trauma,” police said in a news release. Police said that additional charges are possible in the case as their investigation continues. Middono is being held in Will County Jail on a $2 million bond. According to police, the family first reported that the injuries occurred in a hotel room in Channahon where the family had been living.

Channahon police were called to the hospital and learned the family had moved to a motel in Crest Hill on about May 30, Channahon Police Department Deputy Chief Adam Bogart said. Detectives were able to get into their room and determine the girl suffered her injuries in the Crest Hill motel sometime on Sunday, Bogart said. Channahon and Crest Hill police are continuing their investigation, Bogart said.

“The investigation is ongoing,” he said. “We’re looking at video, everything we can to build a stronger case.”An official with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services said the agency had no prior contact with the family and is now investigating this incident, and that another child in the household has been placed with a relative.

Racing with Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick’s racing career ended when she crashed into the wall during an Indianapolis 500 race at lap 68 out of 200. She is the only woman to consistently race full time at the top of both IndyCar and NASCAR; physicist Janet Guthrie was the first woman in 1976 to break the sex barrier on the track.

Astro.com has Danica at 6:18 pm on March 25, 1982 in Beloit Wisconsin.

I am not sure why I bothered rectifying this one, as I just changed it an hour or so making Mars go south to 12.25 Libra and the Moon north to 13.07 Aries.  In the original setup Mars is north at 12.26 and the Moon south at 12.37, a rather small difference, but the new chart does show the importance of her father butting as Saturn does to her first house and why she is a late bloomer.

The Venus in her fifth house was odd  but now with Mercury there, I can see that she needs more a kindred “sports” spirit than the unequal footing of her physical therapist doctor first husband.  With Venus in the fourth square her Saturn in the first, we clearly see that she has problems playing “wife” or “mother” in a relationship because her relationship with men is so dominating  — Mars in the twelfth house hovers over the map insisting on being the focal determinator.

In the other chart that would be emotional and sensitive Moon playing that role.  It does not seem to fit her personality or her relationships — she proposed to her last beau publicly; fellow race car driver Stenhouse refused.

It is good she froze her eggs a few years back.  This chart suggests it may be another year or so before she settles down with someone, and then most likely with a much stronger personality than her own.
